Sometimes we get so hung up on pushing heavy weights that we lose sight of working with our own body weight.
Body weight training can be just as difficult or even more difficult then lifting the heavy stuff.
In my opinion, body weight training exposes many of our weaknesses…
Especially if we don’t incorporate it into our training routine.
Some weaknesses exposed include:
- Lack of shoulder mobility
- Lack of hip mobility
- Lack of T spine mobility
- Poor balance/proprioception (big word)
This is exactly why we like to dedicate at least one day per week to body weight training.
Just like the working with the heavy stuff, the key to successful body weight training is progression.
Start with the most simple options and progress to the more difficult as you get stronger.
It’s that simple.
Many times our ego gets in the way and we think we are ready for the advanced movements.
I see this in our gym all the time.
Do yourself a favor and check your ego at the door or else you may meet up with the TR SNIPER!
After all, it’s only a workout right??
Today’s body weight session

- 1 arm ring rows or 1 arm assisted pull-ups

- Abs (walkouts, power wheel rollouts, walkouts, wall walks etc..)
Finisher 60/80/or 100 sledge hammer hits or ball slams
I will rock some video on this later.
Have a great day!
